GDD Section: Game Mechanics
Players start at one end of a level (the start) and must use their abilities to make their way to the other end of the level (the end). There will also be objects that the player can interact with such as ladders, signs, and items that can help the player as they progress. In the middle of levels, there will be checkpoints that save the players position and are used as respawn points if the player dies. There will be multiple hazards such as death pits, spikes, and enemies. Death pits lead to a death, which will respawn the player at their last checkpoint. Players have a health bar and touching spikes or enemies will result in a loss of health. If all health is depleted, the player will die and respawn at their last checkpoint. Health can be replenished by reaching checkpoints. End of levels will be signified with a door with a glowing sign that indicates that the door leads to a flight of stairs that go down. Reaching the end of the level will play some celebratory music and show the results of the player such as how fast they reached the goal, how many times they died, and how many enemies they defeated.
